Boxcar's New Look
My wife and I have 5 children, although she often jokes that Boxcar is my 6th. Let me tell you, the last year has been one of amazing growth and change for baby #6, and I am so excited to unveil Boxcar’s new look today.
This is the culmination of months of work on the part of Team Boxcar, along with some talented designers and brand specialists. While we all loved our original logo, it’s become clear over the past few months that, as our business evolves, our look should as well.
When I started Boxcar 4 years ago, it was a parking company, plain and simple (well, not that simple, but that’s another story). Then we added buses. And then auto detailing, grocery deliveries, grill detailing, dog walking…plus plenty of other initiatives we are planning to announce over the next few months. Some of those experiments were successful, some were not, but they all helped shape what the company was becoming.
Over the last few months, our team realized that we were selling Boxcar short if we continued to call it a "parking company". We’ve grown into a platform focused on making life more convenient for suburban commuters, in whatever way we can. That’s a huge role to fill, but we’re ready for the challenge.
After we made that mental shift, we realized the company needed a new look to reflect our new focus. Something clean and simple, mature and focused, while still harking back to the Boxcar our customers know and trust. A big thanks to my partner Owen for getting this project off the ground and seeing it through to completion - like most things around here I couldn't have done it without him.
We went through countless iterations before settling on our new logo and colors (I even made a pinterest board of all my favorite designs). Our new logo, a deconstructed chevron, was inspired by the iconography of mid-century American design, a design era which captured movement, optimism, and American hope.
Boxcar believes in movement - getting people and things where they need to go. We believe the future can be better than the present if we make it better, and we think that America's best years are ahead of us.
Boxcar continues to grow our business-class commuter service while at the same time expanding other local partnerships to help make our customers' lives less stressful and bolster small businesses: the lifeblood of our suburban economies.
This new logo will grow with Boxcar as we roll out more commuter lines and services to make life easier for our customers. You can check out our new look on the website now. We'll roll it out to the app over the next week - watch for updates in Google Play and the App Store. Here's a preview of what you'll see:
Please let me know what you think of my baby’s new grown-up look – I’d love your feedback. I hope you love it as much as I do, because (hopefully) you’ll be seeing it a lot.
Best,
Joe
